My friends took me to the large pipilotti video exhibition in boymans for my bachelor party. It was perfect.
Berlin
Non volevo scrivere nulla sui 20 anni della caduta del Muro. Per rispetto alla città. L’evento però, è stato troppo violento per farmi tacere.
Berlino non ha un Muro. Ne ha diversi. Tanti, intrecciati, sovrapposti. Tutt’ora. Ci sono zone ad Ovest che sembrano Est e viceversa. Ci sono persone che preferirebbero cambiare nazione, piuttosto che quartiere. C’è gente che pensa di venire a Berlino per visitare la Porta di Brandenburgo. Ci sono quelli che “scusi, il centro della città?”. Ci sono quartieri che non consideri Berlino ed altri che potrebbe essere tutta li, la città. Ci sono mesi che la odi, altri che la ami. Ci sono strade bruttissime, che te ne fotti ed altre incredibilmente pulite che ti vien voglia di pisciarci sopra. Angoli da farti venire la pelle d’oca e subito dopo, angoli che ti fanno solo che riflettere. Sporca, li dove il turista non è ancora arrivato in pianta stabile, Berlino ha due occhi enormi da vecchio, dentro un corpo da bambino. Ridono, ma dentro ci leggi una storia tristissima. E veloce corre via per non farsi prendere. È così brava in questo, che nessuno pensa mai di volersi fermare per più di 2-3 anni. Solo chi fugge da qualche cosa, capisce che Berlino ti proteggerà per sempre. Semplicemente perché, nella sua infinita tristezza, accetta qualsiasi tipo di persona che decide di provare a capirla. Berlino non è tale per la città, ma per le persone che la vivono.
Celebrare oggi, i 20 anni della caduta del Muro, non significa nulla per questa città. È come pretendere di festeggiare il compleanno di qualcuno che non si conosce.

Murakami is my favorite writer. I am actually grateful he took up writing so we can get to read the books.
